Ignore the wonderful description of Mike below.  Mike has departed Lex Valorem for an in-house position in the St. Louis area and he is quite excited about it. While Mike will no longer be working for Lex Valorem, he has enjoyed the opportunity to work with Patti, Vince and Hannah and stretched new muscles. Best. Staff. Meetings. Ever. Priceless. Mike is thrilled to have spent time with the folks at Cortex.

A veteran of in-house legal practice, Mike now serves as Lex Valorem’s resident attorney in its Cortex office. Mike has known Patti for years and is enjoying helping Lex Valorem’s practice grow. Please try not to confuse him with the young, hip people with whom he works.

Mike takes seriously the relationship side of practicing law – understanding the client as a person and also understanding their business. His common sense approach probably goes way back to his farm background.

If you’re in St. Louis, you may have seen Mike at the Tower Grove Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, pushing the world’s greatest black bean products from del Carmen (his wife’s Cuban food startup). Or riding his road bike with friends in an effort to age gracefully. A preventive and prospective effort though, not denial.

Mike’s also available for secondments into your company or legal department while he’s actively looking for a senior in-house position with the right company.

Experience

Years in the legal departments of major financial, energy and agribusiness companies throughout the Midwest, working with many wonderful, talented business clients and law firms globally of all sizes.

Representative transactions while here with Lex Valorem include representing (i) the seller of a leading-edge manufacturing facility in the sale-leaseback transaction, (ii) an out-of-state lender as local counsel, and (iii) the seller of Illinois agricultural property in a Section 1031 exchange for Minnesota property.
